These authorizations allow family members of Spanish or EU citizens to reside legally in Spain, guaranteeing family unity and the right to free movement within the EU territory. Although both cases are similar, each has specific requirements and procedures.

Who can apply?

Spouse, Registered Partner or Domestic Partner

Children under 26 years of age or financially dependent

Ascendants over 80 years old or economically dependent

Family of Spanish Citizen

Direct relatives of a Spanish citizen or his/her spouse may apply for this residency.

Family of EU Citizen

1. Proof of Family Ties

The relationship with the Spanish or EU citizen must be proven by legal documentation duly apostilled if applicable.

2. Criminal Record Certificate

It is necessary to present the Certificate of Criminal Record duly apostilled from those countries in which the applicant has resided in the last 5 years.

3. Coexistence or Intention

It must be justified that the family member will accompany or join the Spanish citizen in Spain.

The citizen must be legally resident in Spain and meet the conditions of stay.

Documents such as health insurance, proof of economic dependence or other documents that reflect the relationship and the case should be included.
