Family of Spanish Citizen
Who can apply?
Direct relatives of a Spanish citizen or his/her spouse may apply for this residency.
Spouse, Registered Partner or Domestic Partner
Children under 26 years of age or financially dependent
Ascendants over 80 years old or economically dependent

Proof of Family Relationship
The relationship with the Spanish citizen must be proven by legal documentation duly apostilled if applicable.
Criminal Record Certificate
Duly apostilled from those countries in which it has resided in the last 5 years.
Coexistence or Intention
It must be justified that the family member will accompany or join the Spanish citizen in Spain.
Other Documents
Health insurance, accreditation of economic dependence or others that reflect the relationship and the case.

Immediate family members of an EU citizen or his/her spouse may apply for this residency.

The citizen must be legally resident in Spain and meet the conditions of stay.
Economic Means
It must be proven that there are economic resources to support the family member without generating social burden.
Application Procedure

Verification of Linkage and Compliance
The family relationship with the Spanish or EU citizen is reviewed and it is verified that the conditions required by the regulations are met.

Preparation and Submission of the Application
The necessary documentation is gathered and the application is submitted to the corresponding office in Spain.
03.
Authorization resolution
The administration evaluates the file and, if everything is correct, grants residency as a family member of a Spanish or European Union citizen.
04.
Obtaining a Residence Card (TIE)
Once granted, a Foreigner's Identity Card (TIE) is issued to certify legal residence in Spain.
